Young Laredo Woman Tragically Killed in 18-Wheeler Accident Near Freer, Texas

 

A young woman from Laredo, Texas was tragically killed early Monday morning, following a collision with an 18-wheeler just outside of Freer, Texas.

18-Wheeler Driver Was Attempting to Avoid Disabled Vehicle

The November 6th crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. along Highway 59, about 9 miles from Freer.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the 18-wheeler was travelling south on Highway 59 when the driver spotted a disabled vehicle along the side of the road.

The driver tried to avoid the vehicle by changing lanes. Nevertheless, the trailer slammed into the car’s passenger side.

21-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead at Scene

21-year-old Gloria Isabel Grimaldo was pronounced dead at the scene by Duval County Justice of the Peace Josie Fernandez.

The unidentified 18-wheeler driver escaped the crash without injury.

The Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the accident. No citations have been issued so far.
