A logging-truck driver died tragically last Wednesday, after being struck in the head by a load of lumber near Livingston, Texas.
Truck Driver Walked into Blind Spot Just Before Being Struck
The deadly accident occurred shortly after noon on August 22nd, in a wooded area just off CR 2164 in Liberty County.
Matthew Aaron Sellers, a 33-year-old truck driver with the South Texas Logging and Transport Company, was waiting for his 18-wheeler to be loaded when he left his rig and walked to the back of the trailer.
Sellers entered a blind spot just as the operator of the log loader approached the trailer.
The operator failed to see Sellers and was unable to stop the machine before he was struck in the back of the head.
Victim Leaves Behind Wife, 2-Year-Old Daughter
First responders began performing CPR on Sellers as soon as they arrived on scene. He was then rushed to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries a short time later.
Sellers, who leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter, had only recently begun working for Goodrich, Texas-based South Texas Logging and Transport Company.
“He wanted us to be taken care of at all times. He did it until his last breath,” his wife, Rebekah, told ABC13 News. “I want everybody to know I loved him. He loved me. He loved Michelle.”

Now Sellers’s family is looking for answers.
“The person that was loading the logs had told the investigating officer that he didn’t know exactly what had happened,” his mother, Bonny Burks, said. “All he knows is that when he looked over where Matthew was standing all he saw was legs in the air.
