An Oklahoma man died tragically last Friday, following an explosion at the Lone Star Specialties plant in Morris County, Texas.
4 other workers were injured in the blast.
Worker Died When Tank Exploded at Lone Star Specialties
William Rudd, 44, of Yale, Oklahoma, was killed on August 31st, when a tank blew up around 4:00 p.m. at the Lone Star Specialties manufacturing facility, located at 6412 U.S. Highway 259 in the town of Lone Star.
The explosion could be heard for miles.
“I didn’t know what happened, I walked outside, I thought an 18-wheeler from next door might have hit the building,” a Lone Star resident told KLTV.
Worker Pronounced Dead at Scene
The Lone Star Police Department, the Lone Star Fire Department, Champion EMS, and deputies from the Morris County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident.
Mr. Rudd was pronounced dead at the scene.
4 other men were transferred to local hospitals. Fortunately, their injuries were not considered life threatening.
Texas Authorities Continue to Investigate Lone Star Specialties Explosion
Located in north east Texas, about 140 miles from Dallas, the Lone Star Specialties plant manufactures various coal tar and petroleum products, including carbon pitches, refined tars, and distillate co-products.
It’s not known what caused the Lone Star Specialties explosion.
The Texas Rangers Office and the State Fire Marshalls Office are investigating the blast.
