One worker was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon, following a violent truck explosion at an East Texas petroleum plant.
“Thunderous” Explosion Heard from WOI Petroleum in Daingerfield
Witnesses reported hearing a “thunderous” explosion from WOI Petroleum Inc., located at 654 Highway 259 North in Daingerfield, around 1:00 p.m. on July 24th.
Flames had fully engulfed the truck by the time emergency responders arrived. Before they could bring the fire under control, the flames would also destroy a forklift and a second vehicle.
Injured Worker Airlifted to Local Hospital
Personnel on scene had already removed the unidentified worker from the plant via a private vehicle. Once they met up with an ambulance, a medical helicopter airlifted the injured man to a local hospital.
Morris County Sheriff Jack Martin indicated the victim was an employee of WOI Petroleum. While his injuries were characterized as serious, authorities have not released any additional information on his condition.
