Republic Services Worker Crushed to Death at Fort Worth, Texas Recycling Plant

 

A warehouse worker died tragically yesterday morning, following a horrific accident at a Fort Worth, Texas recycling plant.

Republic Services Employee Crushed by 1-Ton Bale

Police were called to the Republic Services North Texas Recycling Complex, 6200 Elliott Reeder Drive, shortly before 2:30 a.m. on January 31st.

Evidently, an employee was crushed by a 1-ton bale of recycled materials.

The bale was one of three in a stack, and toppled when the stack became unstable.

Fort Worth Woman Survived by 4 Children

According to local media outlets, the 31-year-old Fort Worth woman died at the scene.

Sadly, she left behind four young children.

“It is with great sadness for the entire Republic Services family that we learned early this morning that one of our employees will not be making it back home safely to her family,” Republic Services said in a statement issued on Thursday. “We are mourning the loss of our friend and coworker, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family, her children and loved ones.”

OSHA Investigating Republic Services Recycling Plant Death

Authorities have not determined why the stack of bales became unstable.

Investigators from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) arrived at the Republic Services recycling plant on Thursday.

The company could face fines if OSHA’s investigation uncovers any workplace safety violations.
