Recent Greyhound Bus Crashes Include New Mexico Tragedy that Killed 8
Thursday night’s accident in New Jersey was just the latest to involve a Greyhound bus this year.
In fact, the deadliest crash so far occurred less than 2 months ago, when an 18-wheeler collided head-on with a packed Greyhound bus just outside of Thoreau, New Mexico.
The truck was travelling east on I-40, when a blown tire caused the driver to lose control of the rig shortly before 10:30 a.m. on August 30th.
The 18-wheeler careened across the median and into the westbound lanes of the interstate, right into the path of the Los Angeles-bound bus.
The crash killed the bus driver and 7 Greyhound passengers.
Dozens of others were hurt, some critically.
The truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Utah Greyhound Bus Crash Tragically Kills Teenage Girl
Another deadly crash occurred last New Year’s Eve in Utah, when a Greyhound bus careened off I-70 and plunged into a ravine.
Sadly, the Utah crash claimed the life of a teenage girl from Southern California.
Her mother was among a dozen passengers injured in the accident.
Reports indicated that the Greyhound driver may have passed out just before the bus left the road.
Greyhound Bus Crashes Have Injured Dozens This Year
Other Greyhound crashes have injured multiple people over the past year.
For example, dozens were transferred to the hospital on June 15th, when a Greyhound bus travelling on I-70 in Maryland rear-ended an 18-wheeler.
That same day, another Greyhound bus caught fire on the New Jersey Turnpike, injuring 1 person.
A multi-vehicle crash on New Jersey’s Garden State Parkway in May injured 7 Greyhound passengers.
Dozens more were hurt the previous month, when their Greyhound bus collided with another vehicle along I-30 near Fort Worth, Texas.
And in January, a chain-reaction crash along a snow-covered stretch of I-65 South in Kentucky injured 21 people, including 18 Greyhound passengers.
Our Undefeated Bus Accident Lawyers Have Won Record-Setting Recoveries on Behalf of Injured Greyhound Passengers
Our Undefeated Bus Accident Lawyers have won record-breaking verdicts and settlements in cases involving Greyhound bus crashes.
Most recently, for example, we negotiated a $6 million settlement on behalf of several clients who were injured after a Greyhound driver fell asleep at the wheel.
Greyhound agreed to the settlement after our attorneys obtained the first ever court-ordered overnight sleep study of a commercial driver in the state of Texas.
The results of that test proved that Greyhound’s driver suffered from Moderate to Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea, a medical condition that significantly increased the odds that he would fall asleep while driving.
Our Record-Setting Settlement is the #1 Largest Settlement in Greyhound’s History involving a fatigued driver.
