Dozens of people were injured this morning, after a Greyhound bus rear-ended a tractor-trailer along Interstate 70, just outside of Hagerstown, Maryland.
Greyhound Bus Driver Cited as the At Fault Party
According to the Maryland State Police, the June 15th crash occurred shortly after 5:00 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-70 at mile-marker 32.
A total of 46 people, including the driver, where aboard the bus at the time.
Police have cited the unidentified Greyhound driver as the at-fault party in the accident.
30 People Transferred to Hagerstown Hospital
Rescue crews were forced to cut into the bus to rescue the driver.
He and 29 others were transferred to Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.
Most of the injuries were caused when passengers were thrown from their seats due to the impact of the crash. Fortunately, none of the injuries are life-threatening.
Greyhound Bus was Headed to Washington, D.C.
The Greyhound bus was on its way to Washington D.C., but it’s not clear where the trip originated.
A school bus was called in to take the remaining passengers to a nearby McDonald’s, where they waited to board a replacement Greyhound bus to continue the trip.
Maryland State Police continue to investigate the accident.
