A truck driver was tragically killed earlier this morning, when his rig collided with the trailer of another 18-wheeler along Interstate 10 near Katy, Texas.

18-Wheeler Slammed into Loose Trailer
Both trucks were on I-10 west shortly before 3:30 a.m., when one of the 18-wheelers suddenly lost its trailer.
The second rig then slammed into the errant trailer. That truck’s driver, a 59-year-old Nevada man, died at the scene.
26-Year-Old Woman Hospitalized
Paramedics transferred his 26-year-old female passenger to the hospital. So far, authorities have not commented on the nature of her injuries.
The other 18-wheeler driver, a 47-year-old Texas man, and his passenger escaped the accident without injury.
Katy 18-Wheeler Crash Closed I-10 West for Hours
The crash closed the westbound lane of I-10 near Katy for nearly 8 hours.
A hazmat team cleared fuel and debris from the highway, and the interstate finally reopened at 11:30 a.m.
Authorities have yet to determine why a trailer came loose from one of the trucks. The I-10 Katy 18-wheeler crash remains under investigation.
