An 18-wheeler collided with a car in Lewisville, Texas on Saturday, tragically killing a 13-year-old girl.
The crash also injured three people, including two other children.
Truck T-Boned Passenger Vehicle at Busy Intersection
The Lewisville Police Department responded to the accident shortly after 11:30 a.m. on November 24th.
Apparently, the semi-truck T-boned the passenger vehicle at the busy intersection of FM 544 and the 121 service road.
The Tarrant County Coroner pronounced the young girl dead at the scene.
According to the Lewisville police, the teenager was from Bowie and had been sitting in the vehicle’s backseat when it was hit by the truck.
She was friends with one of the other children injured in the crash.
Mother, 2 Children Taken to Plano Hospital
Emergency personnel transferred a 37-year-old driver and her two children to a hospital in Plano.
The woman’s condition is unknown. However, her 13-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son both suffered critical injuries.
Fortunately, doctors expect all three to recover.
The 35-year-old truck driver escaped injury.
Alcohol and Drugs Likely Not a Factor in Fatal Crash
Lewisville police have not determined what caused the deadly accident. So far, however, it doesn’t appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor.
Among other things, investigators are trying to determine if either driver ran a red light.
“There’s a lot of people asking questions. A lot of family members are hurt. Everybody wants to know exactly what happened for closure or their own knowledge,” Capt. Jesse Hunter, Lewisville police, told Fox4News. “We like to get all the facts with cell phones, with speed, did somebody run a red light whatever the case may be.”
Police reportedly interviewed the truck driver Monday afternoon, but have yet to speak with the injured woman.
