Video Shows School Bus Turned on Green Light, While 18-Wheeler Ran Red Light
The crash remains under investigation.
Video obtained from a nearby surveillance camera indicates that the bus was turning on a green light, while the truck entered the intersection on a red light.
The truck driver told authorities that he was unable to stop as he approached a yellow light and indicated that his brakes failed.
“He took evasive action, hit the shoulder, and could not stop, colliding with the school bus on the back left rear end of the school bus,” Robbie Barrera, a Sergeant with the Texas Department of Public Safety, reported during a Wednesday morning media briefing.
Among other things, investigators will try to determine if weather or slippery roads contributed to the crash.
