A multi-vehicle wreck along Interstate 30 in Royse City, Texas, left an 18-wheeler driver dead yesterday and injured several other motorists.
18-Wheeler Failed to Slow Down for Traffic, Setting Off 3-Vehicle Crash
The October 26th accident occurred in the slow lane of I-30 West at mile marker 75. According to an official with the Royse City Police Department, an 18-wheeler driver failed to slow down as he approached congestion and rammed into the back of a Walmart semi-truck.
The impact of the collision knocked the rear axles out from under the second rig’s trailer and pushed the truck into the rear of a passenger vehicle.
Truck Driver Died at Scene, Passenger Vehicle Occupants Hospitalized
The driver of the Walmart truck survived the accident and was not hurt. But the initial 18-wheeler sustained significant damage in the crash, and its driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The occupants of the passenger vehicle were injured and transferred to a nearby hospital.
So far, Royse City Police have not identified any of the victims. It’s also unknown how many survivors were hurt, how badly they were injured, or their current condition.
The accident remains under investigation.
