The History of Texas State Highway 146

Texas State Highway 146 begins in Livingston at U.S. Highway 59 and runs south to Liberty, where it meets U.S. Highway 90. State Highway 146 was designated in March 1930 and has since undergone numerous relocations, extensions, and expansions.

There are two business routes along SH 146. The Baytown Business Loop (Business State Highway 146-E) runs through Baytown. In 1996, SH 146 was relocated to replace Loop 201, and the old route was redesignated as Business State Highway 146-E. The La Porte Business Spur (Business State Highway 146-D), formerly Loop 410, runs from La Porte to Spur 501 and was redesignated in June 1990 as Business State Highway 146-D.

These business routes are commonly used by commercial trucks.
