A collision involving an 18-wheeler and two other vehicles near Blooming Grove, Texas, sent three people to the hospital with serious injuries, including two teenage girls, on Monday morning.
Semi-Truck Was Attempting to Back Out of Private Drive
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the multi-vehicle accident occurred around 8:15 a.m. on March 5th, in the 1100 block of Highway 22, east of NW CR1350.
A Freightliner semi-truck was attempting to back out of a private drive into the eastbound lane of Highway 22, when it collided with a 2005 Dodge pickup with three people aboard.
The impact of the crash forced the pickup into the westbound lane of Highway 22 and into the path of a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse.
The Traverse was forced into the eastbound lanes of Highway 22 before coming to a stop on the south shoulder.
Driver of Dodge Pickup, 15-Year-Old Passengers Sustained Serious Injuries
All three people inside the Dodge pickup were seriously injured.
Two 15-year-old girls who had been traveling in the vehicle’s middle and front-right passenger seats were airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Dallas.
The driver, 39-year-old Shanna Wood of Corsicana, was transported by ambulance to Navarro Regional Hospital.
No other information regarding the condition of the injured has been made public.
The driver of the Chevrolet Traverse and the tractor truck were treated at the scene and released.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
