Two workers were seriously injured Monday morning, following an explosion at an Empresa Energy gas processing facility in a remote area of Benton, Louisiana.
Two Empresa Energy Workers Suffer 2nd & 3rd Degree Burns
The Empresa Energy plant is located on Duer Wagner Road, off of Cycle Plant Road in Bossier Parish. The facility produces refrigerant gases from liquified petroleum gas and natural gas.
According to KSLA News 12, the explosion occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Monday. Two men were transported to the University Health hospital burn unit for second and third-degree burns to the upper portion of their bodies. No other information on their condition has been reported.
Responders from Benton Fire District 4 were able to get the resulting fire under control in about 15 minutes. The Louisiana State Police hazmat team has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion and fire.
The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office also responded to the Empresa plant explosion.
