A fiery 18-wheeler crash along Interstate 12 in Livingston Parish, Louisiana tragically killed two people last Friday afternoon.
18-Wheeler Caught Fire After Head-on Collision
The September 13th accident occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m., as a Kenworth 18-wheeler headed west on I-12 near the Livingston-Tangipahoa parish line.
For reasons that remain unclear, the truck hit a westbound Toyota Highlander, causing both vehicles to cross the center median. The 18-wheeler then collided head-on with an eastbound semi-truck and burst into flames, killing both truck drivers.
The driver of the Toyota suffered moderate injuries and received treatment at a local hospital. So far, authorities have not identified that individual or commented further on their condition.

According to WVUE TV, there are no median barriers along I-12 in Livingston Parish.
“Cable fences to prevent vehicles from going all the way across the center of oncoming traffic when there’s an accident,” a Hammond resident said. “That might’ve saved a life.”
A spokesperson with the Louisiana Department of Transportation agreed they might have made a difference during last Friday’s horrific 18-wheeler crash, and said the Department planned to begin installing them in Livingston Parish later this year.
