Victim of Fatal Margaritaville Lake Conroe Electrocution Identified, Investigation Continues

Texas authorities have identified the worker tragically killed in connection with last week’s fatal electrical accident at the Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe.

Entergy Contractor from Coldspring, Texas Pronounced Dead at Scene

According to the Conroe Police Department, the deceased was a 25-year-old from Coldspring, Texas.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was one of two Entergy contractors who suffered electrical shocks last Thursday afternoon while performing work at the resort, located at 600 Margaritaville Park Way in the Montgomery section of Conroe, about 55 miles from Houston.

2nd Entergy Contractor Suffered Burns to Hands

A second unidentified worker was rushed to the hospital with burns to his hands. That man was apparently behind the deceased and holding wires when the accident occurred.

A third worker who had also been standing nearby was not hurt.

The incident left the Margaritaville resort without power. All guests were evacuated, and the property remained closed until Sunday.

OSHA Investigating Fatal Margaritaville Electrocution

So far, it’s not known what caused last week’s fatal electrocution. However, according to 911 recordings, “someone fell into a manhole,” and there was “smoke coming from a manhole. Possibly on fire.”

The dispatcher also reported a “possible electrocution from being in the water on the pool deck.”

The U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration is investigating last Thursday’s deadly electrical accident, along with the Conroe Police Department and Entergy.
