An 85-year-old woman was tragically killed on Friday, October 20th, following a collision with an 18-wheeler on Texas State Highway 29, 10 miles west of Georgetown.
The crash occurred around 9:21 p.m., as Clare Mashburn of Georgetown was driving west on highway 29 in a 2009 Toyota Rav4.
Luis Mendoza, of Nuevo Laredo, was driving east in a 2008 Peterbilt truck towing a 1998 Wabash trailer.
Driver of 18-Wheeler Was Attempting to Turn Around in Private Driveway
According to the Texas DPS, Mendoza came to a private driveway and tried to turn around to travel west. He was allegedly attempting to back into the driveway as Mashburn drove towards and end up striking the left rear side of his trailer.
Mashburn died at the scene. Mendoza escaped without injury.
The 18-wheeler crash remains under investigation, and officials have not yet determined if any charges will be filed in connection with the accident.
