FedEx Box Truck Veered Out of Its Lane
The horrific crash occurred Tuesday evening just after 7:50 p.m.
According to officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the family was in a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV headed west on U.S. Highway 57, about 9 miles east of Eagle Pass. The Ford Fedex box truck was traveling east on the same roadway, but for reasons that remain unclear, veered into the opposite lane and struck the SUV head-on.
Four adults traveling in the passenger vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, including a 71-year-old man and four women ages 61, 34, and 25.
Another passenger, a 10-year-old girl, was en route to the hospital when she died of her injuries.
Texas officials have identified all of the crash victims as residents of Eagle Pass.

FedEx delivery trucks, including 18-wheelers, semi-trucks, and box trucks like the one involved in Tuesday’s tragic accident, are a common sight on Texas’s roads and highways and throughout the nation. During that same period same, FedEx and its drivers were cited 1,167 times for various safety violations, including 246 unsafe driving violations, 34 Hours-of-Service violations, 805 vehicle maintenance violations, and 78 driver fitness violations.
