What If a Company Other Than My Employer Was Involved in Causing My Injury? What is a “3rd Party” Claim?
If another company other than your employer was involved in causing your injury, well then you would have a separate cause of action against that third party. That is essentially what a third party claim is. You can sue not only your employer under the Jones Act but you can also bring a third party claim under the general maritime law.
