How long do I have to bring a lawsuit under the Jones Act?
Under the Jones Act you’ve got 3 years from the date of the injury to bring suit. If an injury occurred on a government vessel it’s likely to be 2 years, so you need to contact an experienced Jones Act lawyer to find out when your deadline is to file suit. In my experience the sooner the better when it comes to filing lawsuits.
If you or a loved one were injured while working offshore, it’s important to talk to an Experienced Maritime Attorney as soon as possible to ensure that you don’t waive any of your legal rights.
