An 18-Wheeler crashed along Interstate 10 in San Antonio, Texas, early yesterday morning, pinning an SUV against the center divider and trapping two people inside the vehicle
The collision left three people injured, including one person taken to a nearby hospital.
Jaws of Life Used to Extract Occupants of Pinned SUV
The October 11th accident occurred sometime around 2:00 a.m. in westbound lanes of I-10 and UTSA Boulevard on the North Side of San Antonio. According to witnesses, the force of the collision sent the 18-wheeler to the top of the concrete divider.
Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to extract two occupants from the SUV.
While it’s not clear exactly what led to the crash, storms and heavy rains were moving through the area at the time, suggesting weather may have been a factor.
1 Person Taken to University Hospital
One person rescued from the SUV was taken to University Hospital, where they were last listed in stable condition. Officials in San Antonio have not identified that individual or commented on the nature of their injuries.
Two other people suffered minor injuries and were treated at the accident scene.
The roadway remained closed for several hours to facilitate cleanup and allow investigators access to the crash scene.
