A trucker was rushed to the hospital early yesterday morning, following a wreck involving two 18-wheelers in South Bexar County near San Antonio, Texas.
Crash Occurred as One Semi-Truck Attempted to Pass
The violent August 11th crash occurred shortly before 1:30 a.m., as both rigs were traveling in the northbound lanes of I-37 between Mathis Road and Hardy Road.
According to Bexar County Sherriff’s Deputies, one of the semi-trucks rear-ended the other while attempting to pass. The second 18-wheeler then veered off the highway and struck the guardrail, ripping the cab apart.
Debris, including cabbage being hauled by one of the vehicles, was left strewn across the interstate.
Trucker Rushed to Hospital with Non-Life-Threatening Injuries
The driver of the second 18-highway was taken to the hospital. While authorities have not released the trucker’s name or commented on his current condition, they did indicate that his injuries were non-life-threatening.
The other truck driver was not injured, and his rig suffered only minor damage.
So far, deputies have confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in Tuesday morning’s crash. No charges are pending, but the accident remains under investigation.
