Three people were injured early Saturday morning when a Greyhound Bus crashed along Instate 57 South outside Effingham, Illinois.
Greyhound Bus Rolled into Ditch as Driver Tried to Open Window
The July 18th accident occurred around 1:30 a.m., as 31 passengers and the Greyhound driver were headed to Mississippi from Chicago.
According to the Illinois State Police, the vehicle’s air conditioning system was not functioning correctly. The bus left the road and rolled into a ditch as the driver attempted to open a window.
Greyhound Bus Crash Ignited Small Grass Fire
A small grass fire sparked by the exhaust system was burning near the bus when first responders arrived on the scene. Fortunately, everyone aboard was able to exit the vehicle on their own.
Three passengers received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. So far, authorities have not released the victims’ names or commented on their current condition.
The remaining passengers were transported to a nearby Pilot Truck Stop, where they boarded another Greyhound Bus to continue their trip to Mississippi.
