An oilfield services contractor died tragically following a deadly drilling rig accident at a Williston, North Dakota well site earlier this month.
Oilfield Contractors Were Reconnecting Polishing Rod
Emergency crews responded to reports of an accident on a site located between Springbrook and Epping shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18th.
According to local media outlets, the fatal incident occurred while a workover rig was in operation.
The contractor was part of a crew from Brigade Energy Services, L-L-C. that had just finished servicing the well and were preparing to reconnect a polishing rod.
For reasons that aren’t entirely clear, the top end of the rod became loose and fell, striking the contractor in the head.
He died at the scene.
OSHA Investigating North Dakota Drilling Rig Accident
Authorities later identified the deceased as a 34-year-old man previously from Liberal, Kansas. Sadly, he left behind two daughters.
The Occupational Safety & Health Administration has deployed an investigator to the scene. The agency has six months to complete its probe, issue citations, and propose penalties for any workplace safety violations uncovered in the course of the investigation.
Brigade Energy has not commented on the fatal North Dakota drilling rig accident.
