Two teenage boys died tragically Friday night following a triple shooting at the Kimberly Pointe Apartments complex in north Harris County, Texas.
A 20-year-old man was also wounded but is expected to survive.
Past Kimberly Pointe Apartments Tragedies Linked to Inadequate Security
According to The Houston Chronicle, Kimberly Pointe Apartments has a two-star rating on Google, with some past residents complaining of poor security at the complex.
Sadly, Friday night’s shooting victims are just the latest in a long line of residents seriously injured or tragically killed due to inadequate security at Kimberly Pointe Apartments. Our firm successfully represented the family of a 22-year-old-father and soon-to-be husband who was also killed at the complex after being shot in his vehicle outside his apartment building.
Kimberly Pointe Shooting Erupted During Pool Party
The July 1st shooting occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. when a fight broke out at what is believed to have been a pool party. According to media reports, people started shooting in front of the leasing office in the 300 block of West Airtex Boulevard.
At the same time, more than 100 young people inundated a nearby Shell gas station.
“Girls, age 16, were fainted on the floor. They could not breathe. We had to call an ambulance. They refused to take medication. I don’t know what happened. Then we had heated arguments with kids inside the store. They were not leaving,” a gas station employee told ABC 13. “The other side of the story is that I had 20 kids parked with loaded guns behind my store. This is where the exit door is, and we were also kind of trembling. What’s going to happen next? It’s the same group, which was just split into two.”
Paramedics transported all three victims to the hospital, where the two teenagers died. The adult male was being treated for two gunshot wounds.
Shooting Remains Under Investigation
As of Friday night, several people were being held in connection with the shooting.
“We do have possible shooters detained,” Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Det. Dennis Wolfford told reporters. “We’re still working to figure out who exactly fired the shots, and we’ll be interviewing them and reviewing surveillance video to figure out exactly how this whole thing went down.
Investigators continue to interview witnesses and look through surveillance camera footage. Anyone with information is urged to call the HCSO Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
