Two motorcyclists died tragically Saturday night, following a collision with an 18-wheeler just two miles south of Refugio, Texas.
18-Wheeler Was Attempting to Turn into Crossover Lane Just Prior to Collision
The deadly crash occurred at approximately 10:22 p.m., March 10th, along U.S. 77 in Refugio County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2007 Freightliner truck had been traveling north in the right-hand lane of the highway and was attempting to turn into the crossover lane to head south on U.S. 77.
The trailer was struck by two motorcycles – a 2007 Honda and a 2014 Harley Davidson — that had been traveling in the left lane.
The motorcyclists, Glenn Dewayne Bray, 44, and Christine Diane Thames, 50, both of Victoria, Texas, died at the scene.
18-Wheeler Driver Arrested for Fleeing Accident Scene
The unidentified driver of the 18-wheeler did not stop and continued to travel south on U.S. 77.
Police apprehended the rig in Woodsboro, Texas, where the driver was arrested for fleeing the scene of an accident.
The truck driver did not suffer any injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
