Maritime & Offshore Injuries
Our maritime & Jones Act attorneys have successfully represented hundreds of injured offshore workers and won over $1 Billion against some of the largest offshore drilling companies in the United States.
After the tragic BP Deepwater Horizon explosion, a number of the workers who were injured onboard the Deepwater Horizon turned to our Maritime Lawyers to help them and their families recover for their serious and permanent injuries.
While many law firms spent years fighting BP and Transocean, our Offshore Injury Lawyers were able to secure highly favorable (and confidential) settlements for all of our clients in less than 18 months. The Jones Act
The Jones Act is a federal law originally known as the Merchant Marine Act of 1920. The law is designed to protect offshore workers from the significant risks that exist while working offshore.
In the event of an injury, the Jones Act requires the worker’s employer to pay “Maintenance and Cure” benefits, which cover the worker’s medical expenses (cure) and provide them with a daily living allowance (maintenance) while they are recovering from their injuries,
In addition to “Maintenance and Cure” benefits, the Jones Act also entitles injured offshore workers to recover damages for their physical injuries (pain and suffering, mental anguish and physical impairment), as well as their financial losses (past and future medical expenses and lost wages).
Unfortunately, however, maritime employers almost never pay these damages unless they are forced to. That’s why that it’s essential, following an offshore accident, that injured workers immediately hire an experienced Offshore Injury Lawyer to protect both their and their family’s rights.
