The maritime attorneys at Zehl & Associates recently filed a personal injury lawsuit on behalf of a Jones Act seaman injured while working on a vessel.
The suit, filed in Houston, Harris County, Texas against Ensco Offshore Company, is currently in litigation in the 234th District Court.
Our client, a roustabout, was working for Ensco onboard a drillship named the DS3 when he was ordered by a supervisor to help a co-worker slide two solid-metal ram blocks into a large cargo box. Each block weighed approximately 450 pounds.
While attempting to manually slide the massive blocks into the box, they suddenly slid backward, crushing our client’s finger and requiring extensive medical treatment.
Our client later found out that he had been not only been instructed to perform the task using an improper, dangerous procedure, but even worse the company had also failed to provide him with a tool that would have allowed the job to be performed safely.
What Our Maritime Attorneys Can Do For You
Our maritime lawyers have recovered hundreds of millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for those injured in offshore accidents. That includes nearly $10 million for those that were injured on the job while onboard Ensco vessels.
Most recently, our firm recovered a settlement of over $4 million on behalf of an injured Ensco employee.
In that case our client had a suspended load fall onto his head, injuring him severely and requiring him to undergo multiple surgeries.
